An open letter to Aravind Adiga...

Dear Mr. Adiga,

First, I would like to congratulate (albeit very late!) on your ENGLISH book “The White Tiger” which clearly, and rightly so, highlights the plight of the poor in our not-so-lovely country and the ever present rich-poor divide. Maybe you actually deserved to win the MAN Booker prize. Kudos!
But… I write to you in reference to your article in the 'Times of India' on the 17th of October titled “Kannadigas, stand up for Karnataka” which I read during my ‘early-morning-chores’ (If you know what I mean!). Reading it didn’t feel any different by the way. Lest you forget, here are the transcripts of it –

Culture, in the south of India, has always been a bulwark against money. Sadly, just when he needs it most as a defence, the Kannadiga sees his language and culture being eroded everywhere. I encounter this problem in Bangalore every day, where people routinely speak to me in Hindi. As a matter of principle, i insist on replying in Kannada, but the Kannadiga's self-esteem has dipped so low that many will talk only in Hindi to me.

Now, since when has talking in Hindi become a thing of low esteem?? Yes, you guessed it right I am a Hindi speaking Indian but I in no way have any kind of superiority complex about this, hence I don’t understand why should a Kannada, Marathi, Bengali, Telegu etc speaking person have any kind of inferiority complex or vice versa!! Infact, why should anyone have any kind of complex in speaking, reading, writing or communicating in any language.

Here I would like to tell you that I do have problems sometimes but the problem is with the individuals not with their language. Yes, I have a problem when the Auto guy takes me for a ride and charges me 100 instead of 80. I have a problem with THAT INDIVIDUAL not his Language. If you have ever been to different parts of the country, such problems are prevalent everywhere. Doesn’t mean it’s the culture of the language at fault. Does it ?

Just to let you know what I (Hindi speaking, born and brought up in Mumbai, currently living in Bangalore and in a proud part of a Kannadiga extended family) understand from this. This essentially means that you want to enter politics, on the behest of being the saviour of the Kannadigas of the state where you will launch a Raj Thackerayesque tirade against North Indians or should I say Non Kannadigas? If you are so bothered about your people, then why don’t you stop worrying about the cash component of your profession and start writing in Kannada. Will you Mr. Adiga ?

It is sad, when people like you with access to the media and the power to entice emotions (just like you have done right now) become so irresponsible and start performing the ‘early morning chores’ straight from your mouth. Me not being able to talk in any other language is my sheer linguistic incompetence NOT an ego or an esteem issue against anyone anywhere, contrary to what you make it sound.

Let me refer to the para over the one quoted above –

The source of this crisis (Karnataka political crisis) is cash. It has been flooding into this state. Some of the new money is from the IT and real estate sector, but a large part comes from the mining interests in the north. This cash has not done much to improve the infrastructure in the state. What it has done is undermine the basic functioning of politics here; Bangalore is abuzz with rumours that hundreds of crores have been paid in bribes to the dissident MLAs.

Nobody could have put forward this thought more simply hence credit where its due!!.. But then can you please tell me how are these 2 things related to each other. What exactly are you bothered about??…The corrupt government or the Hindi speaking people ?? Or do you in anyway think BJP is in power because of the so called ‘Hindi’ influence in the state?? Or do you think all the pollution, lawlessness, screwed up infrastructure is because of the advent of the Hindi speaking clan ?? What are you trying to imply ??

Language or Culture, Mr. Adiga, is not the cause of any problem. Never was never will be!! It is the lack of good leaders that is the problem, irrespective, of the divided loyalties in a state or region or country, it is the narrow mindedness of people (sorry to say, like you) which is the problem, it is the lack of true perspective which is the real issue.

This amalgamation of different cultures is what makes us different to those people of the Harappa and Mohenjo Daro days. We evolve…We modernize !! That’s the human race. Haven’t you read ??

I agree to the fact that if you are living in Karnataka, then you are a Kannadiga…Similar to -- if you were to live in Mumbai then you would be a Mumbaikar. Ohh yes I am…A Mumbaikar (a proud one that too), a Kannadiga also and If I have to live in Bangalore for the rest of my life my offspring will grow up to be Kannadigas, whether they speak that language or not is not the point here just like the same I did when I was born in Mumbai to parents who migrated from UP. For a change, let the people of this country hear that echo of INDIANism rather than Kannadiga, Mumbaikar, bhaiyya, etc.

Every culture can be learnt without necessarily learning the language. Isn’t the Geeta, Quran all printed in 100000 different languages ?? Doesnt it not teach you the same thing or does the basis change with every language ?

Indian and yours faithfully,
AJ.

The countdown begins...

This has perhaps been a the longest lull here since I started this blog..No?...and I write (type) only to fight my current sleepy state...Post lunch, weekdays, in office, the time between 1 to 3 is the worst time of the day, really !...Only me and the heavenly creatures above understand how I survive and fight the sleepiness inside Me. I have tried lots of things, for instance, have a lighter lunch, get involved in some work (:-D), take a break from the ridiculously useless meetings for sometime, even approach the so-called 'intelegentia' in office for advice but nothing works U know...Absolutely nothing....I keep falling and hitting the sides of the desks dozin off....Terrible !!...Anyone out there who has a better idea (or expertise) of dealing with these 'sleepy-post-lunch-afternoons'.... please lemme know...I ll indebted to you forever! :-(

That apart, I know I had said in my last blog that I ll write about my phone blaah blaah blaah but I changed my mind and I aint writing about it anymore...Why ?? Cos i dont feel like..why again ?? Cos IT IS MY blog and I ll do what I want !!.. :-)

Coming to the point, its been quite a busy past coupla months..August being the busiest one .. Actualy, (Finally!!) got engaged on the 22nd... The engagement ceremony cum function was fun with virtually people from all over the world invited. Places included Mumbai, Udipi, Honululu, Timbaktoo, Mogadishu, Alaska, Antartica, Arctic, Papua new guinea, Vanuatu and New Caledonia ... in total the count was close to 200..that makes it 400 eyes starin at me and that really can make me nervous!!...Overall...A very pleasing but cheek-aching experience...I always used to wonder how much the cheek bones (or whatever they are called) of all those couples, clearly throwing fake smiles for photographs, pain enduring these 'thank-you-for-coming-please-smile-we-are-on-camera' sessions...That day I experienced it first hand !! As matter of fact, I spent more time "smiling" at the camera rather than looking at the beautiful person beside me.
I dont how many of you have seen Raju Srivastav's mimmicking of a camera man at north indian wedding in the Great Indian laughter challenge but trust me that day I was convinced there is no better mimmick than Raju..I strongly recommend you to you-tube that act..Its hilarious.

Jokes aside, honestly, I am very very happy. I couldnt have asked for a better person to be with....Talking about anything further is not something that I'd like doing on a public forum..So lets just leave it here while I look forward to the beginning of a new chapter in my life called Marriage. The countdown has already begun!...Not so nervous right now but there will sure be some butterfiles in my stomach when dooms day approaches.

Marriage - which actually reminds me of Wayne "bloody moron" Rooney...What a son of a gun?!!..I am so gut-wrenchingly dissapointed with this lad..I used to look up to him playing whenever he donned that Man Utd shirt giving his heart out for his team..absolutely everywhere on the pitch...Defending, attacking, tackling..just name it. With these dirty allegations of him cheating on his PREGNANT WIFE, which have been proven true unfortunately , I must admit I am very sad and embarrassed. Embarrassed because I was the first one to tell my friends.."Guys, check out these Chelsea cunts making a joke of themselves eh!..Hahaha" ..how wrong was I?....It doesnt take a 24 year old married (with a kid) millionaire celebrity to understand that there is no way in hell that you cannot be caught screwing and dating a call girl regularly, especially, when that 24 year old married (with kid) millionaire happens to be a Manchester United striker..Shrek, for all u know, you may have cameras in your toilet..U fool ! Anyway, as long as his adventures dont start affecting the team and their prospects I guess I should start caring a bit less...Will leave it to the Master to handle his notorious pupil like he has doing for so many years now. Go united!

Apart from that, things have been going pretty well in office, have got a role change .. Now, am called a Switch Designer..Sounds cool..Isnt it ??...Right !!..It only sounds...I tried to search this profile on various job sites just to check where I stand in the market. Funnily enough, the first job result was an opening in "Anchor Switches"...u know the company who makes these electrical switches...1 thing I did realise though is that I can sure laugh at myself !! :-D

I guess thats more than enough for now....Hope to keep blogging a bit more regularly going forward lest my thoughts and my words become totally incoherent from each other..looking at the above I seem to be mighty close.

Brought to you by:
1. Decision - Quit smoking this Diwali (This is sure gonna get some ppl jumping on their chairs!)

2. King Street!! ;-)

3. My alcoholic (sans YM o'course) roomates..Gosh I am gonna miss you guys!

Is this how it feels to be in Iraq ?

Melbourne, someday in August '07 -- Yours truly happened to be 'onsite'... I was having a chat with one of my Oz colleagues there who happened to be a Business Analyst working in the same project as me. Don’t remember exactly how the conversation started but it gradually drifted to we chatting about terrorism with she telling me how scared the people in Aus were after the 9/11. Co-incidentally, The Collins place, where my office was, happens to be the only 38-storey Twin Tower in Melbourne and everytime they saw a plane far away with its nose towards them they would get panicky. Being an Indian (and from Mumbai) I too had immense events to talk about starting from '92 bombings, the '96 riots (Yes, that was terrorism too!!), the Ghatkopar bus blast, the Mulund train blast, the Serial train blasts (7/11) .. Hell the list just goes on!! … It went up to the extent where she commented "So what is it like staying there, it must be like Iraq eh!!"

To be Honest, my immediate reaction was to behead her!! … But mine and my country's pride was at stake so I politely went on to explain that it aint that bad… We Indians are normal people who have a normal happy life and generalized that for the entire country not just Urban India. About how beautiful India and how good the people are blaah blaah…

Today, when I sit back and watch the events unfold on television , her comment instantly comes back to my mind and then I end up retrospecting. Was I actually right in even trying to convince her how "good" my country is or is that I was being defensive??

Lets see,

Almost every second day in the past month, we have seen a group of nasty 'rebels' killing security personnel at-will. They kill villagers by brandishing them as "spies", railway tracks passing through the forest areas in Jharkhand, Chhatisgarh, AP, Maharashtra, Orissa, WB are being blown up at will risking lives of millions.. Common sense and the Oxford dictionary will tell us that these are clear-cut examples of "terrorism"..Why exactly are these bunch of assholes called Maoists "Rebels" and NOT terrorists is something that I ll perhaps never understand and to be honest I give a flying rat's stinking arse to what you call them. But if there is something that I need to understand is what exactly is the government waiting for to take action against them. Are'nt 76 CRPF personnels' lives + 34 (including 8 CRPF jawans') + 150(speculative) people who died in the Gyaaneshwari express not evidence enough to start an action against them ??

One of my closest friends (Well, 1 of the 2 who reads this blog) had recently forwarded a very interesting article from the Times which mentioned about these naxalites supporters being present in Delhi called as Jholawalas. The statistic that alarmed me was that these 'rebels' have killed 6000 people over the past few years. Am not even counting the loss bore by the destruction of schools, tracks, dispensaries, roads and bridges and everything that I am unaware of !!

The Dantewada attack happened on the same day as Sania - Shoaib got married (wasn’t it ?!). How many people can tell me, which was given more coverage ?? ... Wake up you educated qualified journos, wake up Mr. Chidambram … ..If I can see it why cant you ??...I (still) hold the current home minister in a higher regard as compared to say a Lalu Prasad Yadav…For those who don’t know…He was asked on TV what reaction does he have to give for the terror attacks, the great joker of the circus called the Indian Parliament replies "Hum kya kahein!, ab agar log police ke paas jaakar unki khabar denge to aise hi hoga na"

To you Mr. PC …. Rogues with guns do not talk!! … They shoot and that’s exactly what they are doing…. These people are Cockroaches and deserve exactly the same treatment… You do not foster them and try to make them something nice. You just kill and get rid of them.. That’s exactly what needs to be done. With them, some more people also need to be dealt with. Yes, am referring to these Jholawalas who give their blind support to these people, they are as much to be blamed, as rightly pointed out by Tarun Vijay.

I fear if this continues, the people of this country will one day become very passive in their reactions and emotions, passive to the extent of becoming insensitive. News of death, destruction, tragedy will become passe. If this continues, ours will be a country that will have more than a billion sitting ducks waiting to be shot and why ??

Media and our politicians call us (Indians) resilient which I guess means people who get on with life under all forms of adversity… the fact is..Its compulsion. Compulsion of the head of the family to earn square meals for himself and his loved ones !! Cos if he starts worrying about some Kasab roaming on the streets of the city … then he and his children will die anyway !!... The defence personnel are hacked down like a pack of cards with no action taken (instead being blamed for negligience) and then at the same time we have Afzal "son-of-the-soil" Guru YET to be hanged. That’s how criminals who attack the sovereignity of our country are treated here.

If events like these arent quickly addressed then I don’t think we would be too far away from doom. All the development will go down the drain. So, answering the question of "Are we better than Iraq?" ….Yes, we are for sure! … Not we are not very far from being one TILL the system changes!!

So, Is this how it feels to be in Iraq ?!!

Brought to you by:
1. Shame!!..on the leaders and the system of this country. I know it includes myself.
2. My new Android phone which i must admit is VERY expensive and hence I promise to write about it too! :-)

What on Earth was that...

I came across a piece of artcle on eurosport and it makes me wonder...In a world where 'competency' is such a strong word..How does such an incompetent twat like Mr. Paul Parker even have his job??... Its saddens me no ends to embarrassingly accept that he was once a Man Utd player and also an ex international!!

What am referring to are his comments about Aaron Ramsey incident, Parker has actually titled his blog as "Wenger should apologise to Shawcross"... Now, either this guy has written this piece while he was drunk or in his worst nightmares... F***in retard!!...Am not an Arsenal fan, I think (used to atleast till the Stoke game) that they are a timid team and one of the reasons I think like that is because they should have given this kinda reaction 2 years back when Eduardo got injured. I probably understand it can be difficult but thats the stuff champions are made off.. With tongue in cheek, I hope they still are!!...Anyway, lemme not digress about Arsenal..they are what they are!!

Coming back to this 'genius'... Before I do that, for ppl who dont know...There was a tackle on poor Aaron Ramsey in the Arsenal - Stoke match which led to one of the most horrific injuries that I have seen. It was as if his foot was hacked and was hanging by his leg only because of the socks!!...I WILL NOT put the pic here..If u are interested please do a Google search..Am sure u ll find it..Here are some of his comments:

1. "Sometimes your (Wenger's) emotions get the better of you. Sometimes when it happens to a team-mate or a player in your team you need to take a step back, have another look and think about what you say" and then goes on to contradict himself a few lines later by saying this "Referee Peter Walton saw Ramsey's leg and was affected by it"....So I really dont have anything to comment here.

2. "The red card can't be rescinded but it probably wasn't a sending off. The problem is that everyone jumps on the bandwagon and influences the decision"
Me: WASNT A SENDING OFF ??! No No it wasnt...In fact Shawcross should have been patted on the back and encouraged...Come on Son, Show me some more!

3. You can't blame the laws of the game: football needs its competitive edge, the fans would be driven away if it was lacking from the sport.
Me: Well..fans would be driven away!!..let me tell you what I (as a Fan) would do..I would change the damn channel and rather watch the Dutch league (on ten sports)..not even mentioning Spanish or Italian! thats exactly how the fans would be driven away ... I came to know today that what I thought was football happens to be a Street Fighting match!

4. Wenger should, for the 100th time, take a long, hard look in the mirror after what he said. When something like this happens, he should count to 2,025 before he opens his mouth.
Me: Count till 2025 and then push a shovel up urs!..thats exactly what I would do if U tell me something like this!!

NO, this is not about being on Arsenal's side, its about being on Football's, what am trying to say is that experts like these are a disgrace to a beautiful game like football. They have huge responsibilities, what they say can influence someone to large extents. Time for them to realise this.

Football is a physical game without a doubt (especially in England!) but that doesnt mean you lose all your senses and go in for a tackle like that. I wish Ramsey a speedy recovery and at the same time..Good luck Egypt, Shawcross is waiting!!

Talking about good things now, I was lucky enough to be watching (live on TV) the 'great(est) man' score the Double. Its been such a long time coming.. The guy is a bloody legend in the actual sense of the word. I have tried the best that I could to pick up an adjective that hasnt been for Sachin Tendulkar by someone (only to be a bit original), but it seems all have already been used so I wont waste my time doing that.

After the double i had sent a text to all my friends telling them how lucky I am to have seen the historic moment and these were some of the reactions that i got... "One Word - God", "Very True, unfortunately cherishing that moment on the internet", "Agreed Bro, Genius for Sure, God of the game. PERIOD!", "Me not lucky enough :-( so getting live commentary on phone".

Out of the famous quotes that have been said about the Little Master, I remember 2 very clearly and they couldnt have been more right... "I have seen God, he bats at no. 4 for India" and "On a train from Shimla to Delhi, there was a halt in one of the stations. The train stopped by for few minutes as usual. Sachin was nearing century, batting on 98. The passengers, railway officials, everyone on the train waited for Sachin to complete the century. This Genius can stop time in India!!"

Do I need say anymore.. For all the cynics around the world who said Sachin plays ONLY for himself, just 1 thing, Go, get a life! and for the legend himself ...Sach, I want to be you !!

Brought to you by:

1. Damned United -- Must watch, if you havent seen it yet.
2. 101 thoughts about how to successfuly waste time in office..One of them, Am taking a "break" :-)
3. Lets go for 401 now! :-)
4. Inability to come up with good titles.

What a Shame....Someone give me a better word !!

It’s a fucking shame to be a citizen of this country....It really is!! And no this is not a ‘Rang De Basanti’ where am even gonna entertain an argument like...’Then why don’t you do something about it’ , ‘ how about making a start’ blaah blaah...If you EVEN TRY to tell me anything on these lines, I would probably tell u to shut the fuck up and get lost...

I’m an extremely intolerant person especially when it comes to any wrong doings that happen around (no matter big or small) ...I know you may think... who isn’t?!! ... Well, trust me people...I can jot down tons of examples where people take all wrong doings by their stride as if it was part of their life...Really!! Pity our fucking culture, if I can say that!!
Anyway, what am gonna say now is nothing about myself nor am I gonna do anything about it....Simply because, practically I can’t... All I can say is... Unfortunately I wasn’t there at that place to make a contribution. Nor am I gonna make claims to convince you that I would have definitely done something if I was there.

What am referring to is the incident that happened in Tirunelvelli, Tamil Nadu on the 8th... I just came back from work and turned on the news channel which showed a poor Cop, with his leg CUT OFF knee down by gangsters in broad daylight...Nothing wrong so far, maybe this risk is just a part of his job, what happened next was inhumanely bizarre.... Shown on TV, the poor cop cried in pain ...asking 20 people (if not less) PLUS (the main part) ...2 hon’ble state ministers, one of them the HEALTH MINISTER (WOW!) along with their entire crew (cos I don’t want to call it a convoy) and 1 ass of a cameraman taking video instead of helping the dying soul!!...I don’t believe the 3 bastards (Ohh I forgot the collector of that area was also gracing the occasion with his presence) dint even bother to come out of the car for a good 8-10 mins!!...As expected, the cop unfortunately succumbed to his wounds... I really wish his family well ... I guess he must have been one of those rare breeds of honest cops in the country to have met this fate else I don’t see a reason why gangsters would attack him...On the other hand, am, sure you can’t even count the no. Of Rathores and Mahantis who continue to climb ladders of success and get National medals for their ‘hard’ work !!

Shameful isn’t it? ... 2 Politicians, meant to be the “leaders” of this country watching what?? .. A bloody cop enacting the character Jay from Sholay or some melodramatic Prakash Mehra movie where a marigold flower would drop from heavens on a dying soul and then his leg would miraculously join again?...It may sound funny but it isn’t...really!

I have seen that damn clip more than a dozen times now (can’t help it’s all over the news channels) and every time I see it angers me no ends!! ... Our country, yeah yeah our beloved country, is being governed by such responsible people... I have more respect for those gangsters who, so what if it was wrong, came out and did what they intended to...It’s so easy to handle these kinda people cos u know what they are upto... but how do you handle these hypocrites who don’t have any principals whatsoever... what are they..Killers or Leaders?...Lets call them Viruses!

I pretty much had the same feeling back in Dec when I saw ONLY 5-6 MPs on the 13th Dec to play tributes to the people who had died in the Parliament attack in 2001, the same brave hearted people who had given up their lives to save this disgusting pack of swines..... Explanation given, our party leader for there na representing us!! ... Huh?! Lord, I so wish all of you had died that day... wouldn’t have to hear such dirty, stinking comments and for me, I would’ve told my grandkids...Me and my grandfather both know what achieving independence feels like...

For me, both the ministers who stood there watching the afternoon show free of cost are at the same level as the gangsters who committed the heinous crime...If those goondas are to be hanged, then so do these goons.... It’s been 3 days today since the incident and there has been no news or explanation (Yes, those cunts owe us an explanation) from any one of them...The Health Minister in fact shrugged off one of the reporters trying to ask him in that typical rude Tamilian way..Aye poda poda !! ... Well done Sir... Only if you had cared for the car to be dirty for sometime, you wouldn’t have had to answer these and on the contrary would have got really good wishes from the Cop and his family but for now and loads of love from the people of this country....but for now, I will not wish you well cos you deserve to rot in hell !!

To add on: Mr. Sharad Pawar on being asked when are the prices of commodities coming down??. The great man replies, “Main kya Jyotishi hoon, mujhe kyun pooch rahe ho” .. Sorry we didn’t know this question is not meant for the Agriculture Minister.. May we try Obama Mr. Pawar ?

This was brought to you by:
• Utter disgust, every time I hear these SOBs speak.
• Total embarrassment!.. People in the office have been congratulating me for a promotion whereas the fact is am yet to get one :-P
• Laziness, especially, when it comes to gymmin, Only My lord knows when will I stop acting foolish and restrain spending my money like this!!

I can take the despair...Its the hope that I cant stand...

People have been asking me why has there been a lull here for quite sometime so just for the hec of some activity ... Lets sit back and reflect how 2009 was...Only cos I can’t think of anything else right now…

To start off with...Not a great one to be very honest... Kept getting worse as days went by... Funnily enough, the year almost ends with my birthday, which supposedly is meant to cheer me up!!...How can that be guys??…I become a year older u see and ‘course as with all these years this ones too gonna end up in sad way! But you know what; let’s look at the glass as half full, maybe just maybe, you are 1 year closer to achieve what you are destined to ;-)

I have been staring at the monitor for a good 2.5 mins wondering what to write next. Not so easy certainly!! Somehow, when I think of happy times I invariably think of Manchester United, I do think of my family too but haven’t spent much time with them in 2009 (I wonder why though … Yeah I think I know the answer!!) So I ll start with them...

They won their 18th and are just 1 more away from achieving what Sir Alex had famously declared “My aim is to knock Liverpool off their fucking perch and you can fucking print that”. Ohh well … lest I forget, the kids won the Carling Cup right at the start of the year, the same kids got us to the FA cup semifinals while the seniors were busy getting to the Champions League final in Rome. One of my mates just reminded me that it was a record of sorts. Ji Sung Park happened to be the first Asian to play in CL final. How I wish he had scored on that Ronaldo free kick rebound. We could have been the only team to win the trophy twice in successive years. Not a bad half a year eh!

Come June and July. This is when there is no activity whatsoever and all but speculation in the football world. Keep gossiping and analyzing…whom we should buy and whom we should sell. Inflate your already bloated egos and claim “Aye, what is this yaar. I can do better business than Ferguson, buddha satthya gaya hain, he should rest now blaah blaah” but how many times has he proved people wrong. Sometimes I think he proves himself wrong too! I wish I had this knack of playing “who blinks first’ with fate and win every time!!

Anyway, middle of the year, Cristiano Ronaldo was off loaded to (well, who else) Real Madrid. Ronaldo was 1 huge asset to the club. Yes, he was part of the team that won CL and 3 consecutive PL titles and o’course the Club world Cup. But anyway, it seems except Manchester United none of the rival teams have moved on. Yes, we miss Ronaldo, which team wouldn’t? For me, sans his theatrics, he was/is the best player I have ever seen!. But so what, life goes on and u find someone else to cheer and love. As for a certain Portuguese, So long buddy!! Tevez went to Man City (Ohh yeah thanks Carlitos, for not joining Liverpool!!). Though I feel that he should have gone gracefully without bad mouthing about Sir Alex and hence ended up losing all the respect from the fans (including myself). You can’t be loved if call names to SAF, not here in this world atleast!!

In came, Owen, Obertan and Valencia. With the year coming to an end, we are playing like a pathetic drunk lumbering across a dance floor at 1.45am. Really!! And luckily the ‘contenders’ are high too so we are just about riding our luck. Hope 2010 brings no hangovers and above all that, gives us 4 defenders back, if not, more!!

That was Manchester United in 2009 in a nutshell. 2010, lets see how that spans out.

Personally speaking, 2009 crisply can be described in 3 lines:

Every step that you take could be your biggest mistake,
It could bend or it could break,
It’s just the risk that you take!

Sole reason, I love this song to death. So much, if I listen to it 20 times on the trot I’m sure to experience 20 different kinds of emotions!  (By the way, it’s called ‘What If’ by Coldplay)

Perhaps it was one of those years which I would happily, without even thinking twice, completely wipe out from my life as every step that I took broke or maybe I just let my life bend too much. It’s amazing, how things that look like that beautiful sweet rose from far away can actually be a like a thorny and papery Bougainville plant. Maybe I wasn’t intelligent enough to recognise the difference. Actually, I’m now like a burnt child who dreads the fire! The entire year I have spent asking myself for what I did was right or wrong??. The answer is close, I can feel it, very very close!

At the same time, I ‘m a strong believer of the fundamental principal that things average out sooner or later. What goes around always comes around! It may take its own time for sure but so what. So when things do go bad one year, they definitely have to be good the next (or the next or maybe even 10 yrs hence). All you gotta do as I said in my first blog is just keep grinding and wait for ‘The Moment’.

Oh in all of the above shit, forgot to mention I bought another house/flat/apartment. A brand new really cool one. Such a pity that I’m not able to stay there! Just last month ago got rid of the old one and boy it is such a proud feeling to glance over the account statement and wink at myself!!

Being in the banking industry, things didn’t look rosy in the office too. Crappy appraisals, with the growth looking not so good (seriously, I have seen people getting 500/month pay hikes even after being an average performer). Well that is actually nobody’s fault. It’s the market that went crazy. As it gets better, I hope it gets better for all of us too.

All in all, as we bring the curtains down on 2009. I raise a toast to 28 exciting years of my life and look forward (without any hope) to 2010 where I can utilise all that I learnt in the years gone by and wish each and every one a ‘very happy and a prosperous new year’ and to all those who have stood by me so far, a plead to please continue doing that. I would be nothing without any of you!! :-)

Cheers !

This one is brought to you by:
1. Pleasure that the year is coming to an end.
2. A bit of Home sickness and spend more time at home..Do hell with everyone!
3. Owen Hargreaves!! (Do i need to say why!)..Kab aa raha hain bhai :D

KHAANA KHAAYA??....HAAN....KYA KHAAYA ???!!

These 2 are the worst questions ever faced by us Man-kind..Really!!

When I say Mankind, i actually mean Us-The Men, the boys, the gents and not the entire human race. And am sure by now you (intelli)gents would have guessed who're the ones who come up with the 2 most 'genuine' queries ever....o'course it is these females !!...this is the time when i tell God..Turn me into a female just for 10 secs, 8 secs for the shock to sink-in and the other 2 secs solely to understand what pleasure do these women/girls derive by getting the answers to these...Dont think I ll ever be able to handle it more than 10!!

I will certainly take the liberty of generalising this with the entire female race..Doesnt really have to be ur Wife or girlfriend ... Can be ur sis, Mom, ur cousin sis, even ur friend (girl o'course) for that matter. My mom asks this everytime i talk to her. Sometimes I think do I look so frail and unhealthy ??!

My thought, a guess actually , is females are very curious beings and as a result love to Yap..Boy they are good at that!! They inherently are like that, born to make noise kinds!...Dont u remember those group of girls siting in the college canteen and making that shrieking noise or that bus stand outside a college making the other poor people repent their existence and even better, for those who have girlfriends, check your phone bills mates..Thou shall get the answer!!..Alright..Lemme stop and get back to the point before I'm accused of being a sexist !!

Coming back to the point of yapping, this is what i think conspires when a certain girl calls a certain guy or the other way round. They talk and talk and talk, poor guy answers all her questions very diligently till she realises, damnn! the question bank is over...What do i do now ?...time to take out the trump card ... "Khaana Khaaya ??"..comes the reply "Haan kha.." Never mind completing the answer the next question is already on the plate..."Kyaa khaaya??". Now try remembering at dinner, what you had for breakfast!!..Screwed, arent you?! :-D

Girls are smart. I happened to come across this movie yday where Gulshan Grover remarks.."Never question a woman's intelligence" .. I must agree, they are very cunning (intelligent). They can frame these in a variety of ways .. For instance, if the girl knows that the guy has cornflakes everyday for breakfast, she can ask...What did u have Cornflakes, wheatflakes or chocos(for us its more or less the same) ?? ... and why wasnt KFC ordered for lunch ?? Can u imagine the plight people! :-D having to answer these 3 times a day atleast if not more. For heaven sake how does it matter what we had...The carbs in Wheatflakes 35g and Cornflakes has 24g. Enough for me to survive till lunch. :-) and I can bet my life, if you ask the same girl if she remembers what you had day before for breakfast..U bet she wont!!.. Basically, its a very cosmetic question..Has no basis whatsoever, it is just for timepass..THATS IT!!

Personally, I become a Gandhi when it comes to this, simply answer the question and get yourself outta this as soon as you can. So take my advice, dont bother about the logic behind it..There aint 1 !! and if someone ever finds, please do let me know.. I ll buy you a beer myself ..I promise.

All this is outta personal experience but if there's someone who comes and tells me that he has never faced this question from his girl. I ve only 1 response. "Fuck you! the girl doesnt love you!"

This was brought to you by:

1. Non flavored Cornflakes (not wheatflakes or chocos, no mango or strawberry flavored) that I had for breakfast.
2. An ever torturous girl friend.
3. Pride - For keeping upto the promise of coming up with something genuine this time. Nothing can get more genuine. Trust me. ;-)
